Mayport elementary school district has no plans to reopen after ‘significant’ storm damage

Mayport, Florida – A local elementary school has reopened after its electrical system was damaged by Tropical Storm Nate.
Mayport Elementary School reopened Monday, May 24 after the school was closed for three weeks, according to the school district.
The district said in a statement on its Facebook page that the school reopened “after extensive restoration efforts”.
The district is in the midst of an ongoing $1.3 billion rebuild effort, which is expected to last until 2022.
