Mayport BeachElementary Coastal Science Academy has announced a clean up day on May 7th.
The Academy is cleaning up the beach with a full-day program.
The clean up is part of a community-led effort to protect the beach and its people.
The beach is closed for two weeks starting at noon on May 8th.

The Academy’s Cleanup day is an opportunity for people to join in and help out.
The academy’s mission is to provide students with hands-on experience in marine science and the arts through a variety of educational opportunities.
Students can earn a certificate in marine biology or oceanography to continue their education at the academy.
The certificate will be available for free and students can also take part in the academy’s marine science class on May 10th.
To help the academy reach its goal of being one of the cleanest beaches in the state, Mayport Elementary Coastal School has launched a $10,000 fundraising campaign to help fund the cleanup.
A portion of the money raised will be donated to the Coastal Science Foundation.
The academy’s Clean Up Day starts at noon, and the academy is also offering free classes on the beach to anyone interested.
The Coastal Science Museum will host a free event starting at 6 p.c. on May 11th, and all participants are encouraged to attend.
